Coach Natalie Reamer lead the Southwest Y Sharks to their best championship season yet! Over the course of four weeks, the Sharks and their families traveled to four cities to compete with other Michigan swimmers. Despite a team less than half the size of many top teams, the Sharks ULTRA team brought home 5th in State, individual state championships in the Men's 50 Fly and Men's 100 Fly, many podium finishes and it didn't stop there.
Regionals (within Michigan): Maya Allen, Emma Booton, Maya Cebula, Xavier Clinard, Sawyer DeGroot, Michael Edwards, MacKenzie Glasscock, Ryan Greene, Adalyn Gross, Landon Hamill, Greg Kangas, Poppy LaCrosse, Nadia Moore, Delanie Rimes, Padraig Roth, Sadie Tate, Annie Tran, Hannah Weber
- Six boys swam a total of 30 races. They had 19 personal bests (63%).
- Eleven girls with 42 swims had 23 personal bests (55%) and six season bests (14%).
10 and Under MAGS (Michigan Age Group Championship): Sawyer DeGroot
- One swimmer, three swims, one personal best.
- Special note - This was Sawyer's first year competing and she is only 8 years old. This was an amazing accomplishment to make it to state!
11-14 MAGS (Michigan Age Group Championship): Ben Allen, Maya Allen, Xavier Clinard, Michael Edwards, Landon Hamill, Poppy LaCrosse, Padraig Roth
- Five boys swam a total of 24 races with 19 personal bests (79%).
- Two girls participated in 12 races and had 12 personal bests (100%!!).
- A swimmer made zones cuts advancing them to the multi-state Zones meet later this summer.
ULTRAS (Michigan Swimming Championship Meet - Open Age Group): Ben Allen, Vincent Bruno, Maya Cebula, Jack Christy, Greg Kangas, Poppy LaCrosse, Josh Martin, Nadia Moore, Delanie Rimes, Maggie Spybrook, Sadie Tate, Annie Tran, Hannah Weber
- Five boys swam in 28 events and had 15 personal bests (54%).
- Seven girls swam in 28 events and had 10 personal bests (36%) and four season bests (14%).
- The girls and boys relay teams medaled and several will advance to multi-state Sectionals later this summer. Several swimmers achieved times advancing them to the multi-state Sectionals and Futures meets later this year.
