So that we may ensure the safety of our Youth/Teen Members, the YMCA of Greater Kalamazoo will be adopting enhanced Youth Facility Access Guidelines, effective June 1, 2025. Please take time to familiarize yourself and any Youth/Teens included in your membership with the new policy. Updated Youth Facility Access Guidelines (Effective June 1, 2025)
Youth Under 12 Years Old
  • Must be actively participating in a scheduled YMCA program OR
  • Accompanied by a parent/guardian while in YMCA facilities
Youth 12 and Older
  • May use authorized areas of the YMCA facilities without direct supervision
  • Are expected to follow all YMCA policies and procedures during their visit
General Expectations
  • All participants, regardless of age, must adhere to YMCA rules, policies, and the code of conduct
  • Misbehavior or violation of YMCA policies may result in a loss of privileges or further action as deemed necessary by YMCA staff
Parent/Guardian Responsibility
  • Parents/guardians are responsible for ensuring their child(ren) understands and complies with YMCA policies
  • Parents/guardians of youth under 12 must remain on-site and immediately available in case of emergencies unless their child is enrolled in a supervised program
YMCA Staff Role
  • Staff are available to support and guide youth but are not responsible for unsupervised youth 12 and older.
  • This policy is designed to balance freedom and responsibility for youth while maintaining a safe and welcoming environment for all members and guests.
