YMCA INVESTMENT MISSION

To support the goals and objectives of the Y by providing financial support to ensure critical Y programs are preserved for future generations and for the collective benefit of our community.

The YMCA Investment Program was established to meet two specific objectives:

1. To create and maintain trust funds for the exclusive benefit of the Y and its related programs and activities; and

2. To make funds accessible to the YMCA of Greater Kalamazoo for the purpose of accomplishing its mission.

FUND OPTIONS INCLUDE:

A. Glenda Van Stratton Aquatics Fund / AKA YMCA Aquatic Program Enhancement Trust Fund

  • The YMCA of Greater Kalamazoo is committed to providing the best and most innovative aquatic programs available.  The purpose of the YMCA Aquatic Program Enhancement Trust Fund is to grant money specific to YMCA Aquatic programs.
  • Donations to the YMCA Investment Program can be earmarked specifically for the YMCA Aquatic Program Enhancement Trust Fund. The spending policy for this fund will be an annual distribution in the amount of up to 5% of a 20 quarter rolling average of the fund assets.

B. YMCA Program Enhancement Fund / General Fund - Unrestricted Fund

  • The YMCA of Greater Kalamazoo is committed to providing the best and most innovative programs available.  The purpose of the YMCA Program Enhancement Trust Fund is to grant money specific to YMCA programs.
  • Donations to the YMCA Investment Program can be earmarked specifically for the YMCA Program Enhancement Trust Fund. The spending policy for this fund will be an annual distribution in the amount of up to 5% of a 20 quarter rolling average of the fund assets.

C. YMCA Annual Campaign Trust Fund / Arthur Burrell Fund, John Crockett Fund, Norm Hahn Fund – Restricted Fund

  • The YMCA of Greater Kalamazoo believes in providing membership and program services to all who desire to participate.  The purpose of YMCA Annual Campaign Trust Fund is to provide scholarships through annual distributions to the YMCA of Greater Kalamazoo    financial assistance program.
  • Donations to the YMCA Investment Program can be earmarked specifically for the YMCA Annual Campaign through the YMCA Annual Campaign Trust Fund. The spending policy for this fund will be an annual distribution to the YMCA Annual Campaign in the amount of up to 5% of a 20 quarter rolling average of fund assets. This annual distribution will help ensure that everyone wishing to participate in YMCA programs can do just that, even if they cannot afford to pay.

D. YMCA Tennis Program Enhancement Trust Fund / Gina Rickman Tennis Fund

  • The YMCA of Greater Kalamazoo is committed to providing the best and most innovative tennis programs available.  The purpose of the YMCA Tennis Program Enhancement Trust Fund is to grant money specific to YMCA Tennis programs.
  • Donations to the YMCA Investment can be earmarked specifically for the YMCA Tennis Program Enhancement Trust Fund. The spending policy for this fund will be an annual distribution in the amount of up to 5% of a 20 quarter rolling average of the fund assets.

E. YMCA Nykaza Family Trust Fund

  • The YMCA of Greater Kalamazoo along with the Nykaza family is committed to helping all children reach their full potential and keeping them safe.  In response, the YMCA Nykaza Family Trust Fund has been established to provide access to swim lessons/water safety programs to children that are most vulnerable to drowning.
  • Donations to the YMCA Investment can be earmarked specifically for the YMCA Nykaza Family Trust Fund. A “special” allocation of $1,000 per year will be distributed beginning in 2023. This distribution will continue until a 20 quarter threshold is reached. Once reached the fund will distribute up to 5% of a 20 quarter rolling average of the fund assets.
